Day 1: Arrival And Exploration Of The City Center
We arrived in Paris in the afternoon and checked into our hotel in the heart of the city. We were excited to start exploring, so we decided to take a stroll around the city center.
Eiffel Tower
Namphen and I have been fortunate enough to visit the Eiffel Tower during our trip to Paris, and it was an unforgettable experience. We were both mesmerized by the grandeur of the tower, especially when it lit up at night. We made sure to take plenty of pictures and soak in the moment. Climbing up to the top of the tower was also an incredible experience, offering breathtaking views of the city. We highly recommend visiting the Eiffel Tower to anyone traveling to Paris – it’s definitely worth it!
Notre-Dame Cathedral
Next, we headed to the Notre-Dame Cathedral, which was unfortunately closed for renovation, but we still marveled at its Gothic architecture. Our final stop was the Louvre Museum, where we saw the famous Mona Lisa painting and other impressive works of art.
The Notre-Dame Cathedral is an iconic landmark in Paris, known for its Gothic architecture and intricate carvings. Although the interior was closed for renovations during our visit, we admired the beauty of the cathedral from the outside, including the famous rose windows. Despite the 2019 fire, the restoration efforts continue, and we look forward to the day when the cathedral is fully restored and open to the public once again.
Day 2: Montmartre and the Left Bank
On day two, we explored the charming Montmartre neighborhood, which is famous for its bohemian vibe and artistic heritage. We visited the Sacré-Cœur Basilica, which offered breathtaking views of the city, and also saw the iconic Moulin Rouge.
Afterward, we crossed the Seine to the Left Bank and visited the Latin Quarter, the Panthéon, and the Luxembourg Gardens. We enjoyed a leisurely walk and a coffee at a local café, taking in the relaxed Parisian atmosphere.
Day 3: Palace of Versailles and the Marais district
We decided to take a day trip to the Palace of Versailles, and it was well worth it. The opulent palace, gardens, and fountains were a sight to behold. We spent hours exploring the palace and grounds, taking in the grandeur of the former royal residence.
When we returned to Paris, we headed to the trendy Marais district, with its narrow streets, boutiques, and art galleries. We enjoyed some window shopping and had a delicious dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 4: Champs-Élysées
On day four, we walked down the famous Champs-Élysées avenue, from the Arc de Triomphe to the Place de la Concorde. The wide boulevard was lined with luxury shops, cafes, and theaters, and it was a pleasure to stroll down.
We also visited the Musée d’Orsay, which houses an impressive collection of Impressionist art. We were blown away by the paintings of Monet, Van Gogh, and Renoir.
Later in the day, we had a picnic at the Champ de Mars, with a view of the Eiffel Tower. We were lucky to catch the sunset and watched as the tower lit up at night, a truly magical experience.
Day 5: Food and wine tour
We saved the best for last, with a food and wine tour on our final day in Paris. We visited a local market and learned about the ingredients used in French cuisine. We also had a wine tasting and learned about the different wine regions of France.
We enjoyed some amazing food, such as escargots, cheese, baguettes, and croissants. We even tried some unusual delicacies, like foie gras and snails, and were pleasantly surprised by how delicious they were.
For our farewell dinner, we went to a local restaurant and had one of the best meals of our lives. We savored every bite and reminisced about our incredible trip.
Public Transportation in Paris
As a tourist in Paris, it’s natural to wonder about how to navigate the city’s public transportation. With its vast array of options, getting around in Paris is easier than you might think. While walking is the best way to experience the city, the metro, RER, buses, night buses, trams, and taxis are all great alternatives.
We recommend purchasing T+ tickets, which you can buy in packs of 10 for a discounted rate. Another option to consider is the Paris Travel Card (Paris Visite), which gives you unlimited access to the metro, RER, bus, and tram networks.
Keep in mind that some tourist attractions, such as the Palace of Versailles, require a separate ticket, so plan ahead and check if you need additional transportation passes or tickets.
With a little bit of planning, getting around in Paris can be a breeze, leaving you with more time to explore the city’s many treasures.
